Compare the Chevy Trailblazer with the Mazda CX-30

There's several reasons why we think the Chevy Trailblazer is the most cost-effective option in the world of small SUVs. It has everything you want and need in a daily driver-and it has the movie-star looks to go with it. Let's see how our modern crossover SUV compares to a refined, yet visually unappealing Mazda CX-30. In a world of modern style and capability, there's only one that stands out. Let's see how the two compare with Schumacher Chevrolet of Denville.

Exterior Design

Chevy Trailblazer

The new Chevy Trailblazer is something you'll be proud to own in Dover, NJ, or anywhere on the East Coast. This upscale SUV features LED lights, attractive body lines, aggressive fender flares, and a front grille that tips off a visual aesthetic only Chevy can create. While those standard features are certainly enough for most people in Parsippany, the sporty RS offers a high-gloss Black mesh grille with RS badging and 19-inch high-gloss Black machined aluminum wheels. For even more style points, go ahead and customize your Trailblazer with an available two-tone body/roof combination.

Mazda CX-30

The Mazda CX-30 isn't known for creating visually appealing vehicles and this new SUV is a testament. The minimalist approach features a sloped front hood that hints at performance, LED daytime running lights, and a deep Black Mazda grille. Available rear-end LED lights can bring more appeal while upgrading to a higher trim will unlock the Black accented grille, durable black roof rails, and 18-inch wheels. There's not much to fuss about with the new Mazda CX-30.

Interior Design and Technology

Chevy Trailblazer

The Trailblazer makes way for five passengers inside the cabin. Cargo room can expand up to 8.5 feet to create a versatile cargo area. Available upgrades include the hands-free liftgate which make loading and unloading in Parsippany even easier. Body-contouring cloth upholstery is standard, but upgrading to a higher trim will unlock a luxurious appeal with EvoTex seats. The 11-inch diagonal color touchscreen is included with every trim along with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.

Mazda CX-30

The Mazda CX-30 also has room for five passengers with cloth-trimmed sport seats for entry-level models. About midway through the trim, you can swap those seats our for a set of leatherette or Terracotta leather-trimmed sport seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and heated front seats. The 8.8-inch infotainment screen is a decent entry-level size-however, upgrading to the 10.25-inch screen with a higher trim level is still smaller than the standard touchscreen for the Chevy Trailblazer.

Fuel Economy and Performance

Chevy Trailblazer

Each Chevy Trailblazer is powered by a 1.3-liter turbo engine with an EPA-estimated 29/33 MPG city/highway. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, but each Trailblazer trim offers all-wheel drive (AWD)-and that will come in clutch during the cold months in Morristown, NJ. The capability to trek through mud, snow, and rain improves with the ACTIV trim-this model adds off-road suspension tuning, a functional skid plate, and three drive modes to adapt to your surroundings at the drop of a dime.

Mazda CX-30

The Mazda CX-30 provides one of two engines for its powertrain. Lower trim levels are powered via the SKYACTIV®-G 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder engine that offers an EPA-estimated 26/33 MPG city/highway. The other option increases power but drops the fuel economy to an EPA-estimated 22/30 MPG city/highway while topping off at 250 horsepower.
