Check Out How the Chevrolet Equinox Performs when Compared to the Competition

How the 2023 Chevy Equinox Matches up Against the 2023 Honda CR-V and 2023 Ford Escape

You're in the crossover market. And it's because it's just as easy as Sunday morning. Gas mileage is great. Maneuverability through Dover, NJ, traffic is top-notch. And the price? It's hard to beat the cost-effectiveness of a crossover SUV. And it's versatile. You can pick up the kids from school, go to the gym on the weekends, hang out with your date on Saturday night and use it as an everyday driver. So, you're in the crossover market because it's a great option. But here comes the hard part. Which crossover SUV will you buy? We're stacking our chips with the 2023 Chevy Equinox. But, to be fair, here's a quick look at how they match up against the competition.

Performance

Ok, so you won't win any races with the Chevy Equinox, Ford Escape, or Honda CR-V (unless they're racing each other). But that's a given. But what's also given is that you're looking at top-notch gas mileage and handling. But which one faires the best?

Chevy Equinox

The Chevy Equinox offers an impressive handling package and solid performance. Its turbocharged I4, 1.5L engine gives 175 horsepower and 203 lb.-ft. of torque. And that's enough to gain speed on the onramp and merge into traffic. But here's the kicker. The EPA-estimated 26/31 MPG city/highway will put it near the top of its class in efficiency. And that's what truly matters most.

Honda CR-V

While the Honda CR-V's intercooled Turbo I-4, 1.5L engine offers 190 horsepower and 179 lb.-ft. of torque. That's not too bad for a crossover SUV. But that little bit more power will drop the Honda CR-V's efficiency lower than the Chevy Equinox. You'll squeeze out an EPA-estimated 23/31 MPG city/highway.

Ford Escape

The Ford Escape does well with efficiency. It offers an EPA-estimated 28/34 MPG city/highway with the standard 1.5L 3-cylinder engine. This engine, available in the base model, offers 181 horsepower. The Ford Escape has three optional powertrains, including a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder with a solid 250 horsepower.

Safety

Each model considers safety a top priority. When you're carrying family members or friends around Parsippany or Morristown, NJ, safety can be the thing that tilts the purchasing scale one way or the other.

Chevy Equinox

You'll have more standard security than competitors with features like electronic stability control, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance. And that's a mouthful. Standard upgrades, like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, will remove the stress of trying to look behind your vehicle while changing lanes on the highway. Also new this year is the electronically assisted braking system known as "E-boost."

Honda CR-V

Electronic stability control, traction control, lane-keeping assistance, and lane departure warning are some of the standard features for the Honda CR-V. You can upgrade your safety package for a little more dough. Just keep in mind that the upgrades you pay for with the Honda CR-V come standard for the Chevy Equinox.

Ford Escape

The Ford Co-Pilot360 delivers standard safety features like forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring. Each feature provides better road awareness with instinctive driver's assistance features. You can upgrade to more dynamic packages with a switch to a higher trim level.

Infotainment and Interior Design

Travel with fun. Travel in comfort. Here's how the Equinox matches up with the other two competitors.

Chevy Equinox

Chevy is stocked with various entertainment and interior features for your commute in Montville. The standard 7-inch infotainment touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay®, and Android Auto™ integration, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot follow each trim level. With an upgrade, you can get your hands on an 8-inch infotainment screen display, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and a remote starter.

Honda CR-V

The Honda CR-V brings standard features, including a 5.0-inch touchscreen. But you can upgrade your entertainment with features like Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Ford Escape

The Ford Escape revamped its interior design for 2023. Textured cloth seat upholstery and an 8-inch infotainment screen are available at the entry-level trim. The higher trim levels include faux-leather seating surfaces and a 13.2-inch touchscreen. Also available with an upgrade is the ten-speaker B&O premium sound system, a head-up display, and a 12.3-inch cluster screen.
